The duathlon sees participants race in Carisbrooke

Members of the Wight Tri came together for the Carisbrooke Castle Duathlon.

On November 16, around thirty participants started their day from the Priory car park, then ran in the streets around the castle and ended with a “breathtaking” race in the groves.

The cycling stage included a descent into Carisbrooke, a climb to Shorwell and a headwind to Billingham for the return.

Sean Williams emerged as the most accurate in predicting his time, being within 15 seconds.

He was followed by Jack Elton-Walter, who was 31 seconds ahead, and Kellie Carmichael, who was 32 seconds ahead.

Craig Wilson was fastest on the long cycle course, completing it in one hour, 18 minutes and six seconds.

Dean Pike, who suffered an ankle injury, completed the short bike course in 58 minutes and 48 seconds.

Jade Davies was the fastest woman on the course, finishing in one hour, seven minutes and four seconds.

The event concluded with a bake-off, with Steve ‘Date’ Dines declared the winner.

The next event for Wight Tri members will be Strawberry Pain on December 7th.
