Crystal Palace will have to significantly increase their offer of a new salary for Jean-Philippe Mateta if they are to have any hope of convincing the Frenchman to sign a new contract.
Mateta joined Crystal Palace in January 2022 and signed a four-and-a-half year contract which contained an option for a further year. Palace triggered this option last December.

Mateta will be able to leave as a free agent in the summer of 2027 if he and Palace cannot agree on improved terms.
Standard sport It appears Palace have been in dialogue with Mateta with the aim of tying him down to a new contract, but talks have reached a sticking point regarding the Frenchman’s base salary.
Mateta and his representatives have made no secret of their unwavering ambition to see the striker compete at the highest level of football, including the Champions League – a sentiment which has only grown since he became a French senior international in October.

Mateta would be 30 when his current contract expires in June 2027, so Palace will have to decide whether to cash in on him while they can in case he doesn’t agree to a new deal. It is attracting growing interest.
In 172 appearances, he has scored 54 goals for the Eagles and is behind Erling Haaland, Igor Thiago and Danny Welbeck as the fourth highest scorer in the Premier League this season.
He is not the only senior Palace player whose future is uncertain. England central defender Marc Guehi’s contract expires next summer.
